Spinal implants are the devices that are used during the surgery to treat deformity, stabilize and make the spine stronger that facilitates fusion.   • Rods: Rods are round and smooth in use and is usually connected with hooks or pedicle screw to the vertebrae. These are flexible devices used to control the movement of certain sections of the spine to correct the vertebrae.

Non-Fusion implant: they are a substitute to the traditional spinal fusion, which permanently fixes two or more bones in the spine. It involves:

Artificial discs also called as artificial disc replacement (ADR) usually implanted into the spine that acts or imitates as a normal disc. Surgeons can swap the complete disc with the artificial one. They are mainly casted to control the movements after the surgery.

How Doctors/Surgeons install the spinal implant?

Development in technology have enabled doctors to perform significantly complex spine surgeries. Doctors makes a small cut in the back and use this slit part as an opening to insert the microscopes for implants. These implants are built from hard plastic, titanium, and hydroxyapatite. These materials are sturdy and less likely to cause infection. Furthermore, some of these materials are similar to human bone and encourage bone growth.
